When you picture your wedding, do you see yourself stepping outside the traditional box and dream of spending your big day overseas surrounded by those most important to you? Do you see yourself having a destination wedding?

The style of a destination wedding means something different to everyone. It may be a European Vineyard, a beach setting or a rural woodland escape but whatever the location, the main perk of a destination wedding is it allows you to ‘break the rules’ and have the wedding you’ve always dreamed of the way you want it.

So many couples comment that ‘their day flew by’ and that they ‘didn’t get to spend time with everyone’ but a destination wedding is a perfect solution to these common feelings.

A destination wedding allows for a couple to completely immerse themselves in the experience from pre-wedding parties, rehearsal events to post-wedding parties and give you immeasurable time with loved ones. Your day will extend to become a holiday with your loved ones which dramatically reduces the pressure to make that one day absolutely perfect.

With a destination wedding, you will have plenty of time to create lasting memories with all the special people in your life.

But hiring a photographer for your wedding is a minefield without knowing if they could in fact be right to work a destination wedding too.

It’s important to hire someone with experience in destination weddings as they will not only have experience with the different style of wedding you have chosen, but they will also understand the logistics involved, making it super stress-free for you!

My light and airy style is perfectly suited to balmy destination weddings as I work with the light to give you beautifully captured moments while using the lighter backdrop to my advantage. 

One of my favourite locations to shoot has to be Santorini. At a recent workshop hosted by Rebecca Carpenter Photography, I was able to let my light and airy style take centre stage with the whitewash backdrops and picturesque blue wash from the still ocean and clear skies.
