Intimate Real Wedding in Autumn 2020
Below, I share with you a beautiful intimate autumn wedding from 2020 with words from the bride & groom, Lauren & Rob, who share their experience of planning and having a wedding during these current circumstances.

1. Were you always planning on having an intimate wedding?
“No our original wedding would have had about 180 guests, and our reception which we will have in 2022 will have that many guests”
2. If the answer is no, what was your main reason for deciding to go ahead with your wedding, despite government restrictions?
“We are religious and because of our beliefs we don’t live together before marriage, with the restrictions we had we couldn’t even see on another for quiet a few weeks as we lived in different households. So when the restrictions didn’t look like they were going to ease up any time soon, we decided to split our wedding in two and do our wedding ceremony with just our parents and zoomed the ceremony out to all our wedding guests at home. They still watched us get married and we can all celebrate together when the restrictions are lifted. This way we could get on with our family life together and it was so they right thing to do under the circumstances.”

3. How did you find the planning during these times?
“It was difficult, because it was an entirely different way of doing the wedding. However, it was made easier by all the lovely vendors. They were so helpful and understanding about our choice and happily moved the dates for us. The arrangements for the wedding ceremony itself were interesting, we had just 4 weeks to get everything sorted which was tight but we managed to do it just before the second lockdown. We were very fortunate with timing. We got our bands done and the day after the authority came in we got married. Luckily we got married at our local Kingdom Hall and our registrar there is a friend of the family so everything came together well! I managed to find a dress, as mine wasn’t made yet, I had a lovely seamstress who helped me with all the alterations and we have a friend who is a wedding planner, so she helped with decorations at the house to make it look beautiful, we had a religious talk done over zoom from home after the legal ceremony at the Kingdom Hall, due to restrictions. This was nice because it felt very chilled and less stressful being at home with all our friends on zoom. We did a little online drinks and speech after the talk and zoomed ourselves in and out of the breakout rooms so we could speak to all our guests over zoom and kept everyone safe.”

4. What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
“I think just getting married to my husband, it’s lovely to have a nice wedding don’t get me wrong but what it’s really all about is being man and wife and being married no matter how you do it. It wasn’t conventional but it was still beautiful and we made it special. It will also make a good story for the future! Obviously Natalie’s photos came out exceptionally which was lovely and we have them to treasure forever.”
5. Do you have any advice for brides considering an intimate wedding?
“If you’re considering doing an intimate wedding for whatever reason do it! You will never regret marrying the man you love and you can make it special by thinking outside the box. There’s really no reason not to go for it!”
