1. Were you always planning on having an intimate wedding?

“We weren’t always planning on having an intimate wedding – the plan was to have around 100 guests.”

2. If the answer is no, what was your main reason for deciding to go ahead with your wedding, despite government restrictions?

“We decided to go ahead with our wedding as things started to ease up just beforehand and so we thought it would be a good idea to go ahead with it whilst we could. We had a special date which we wanted to stick to so decided to have an intimate wedding on this date in 2020 and then we will wait until lockdown is over and we can still also have the big celebration we had planned. We were able to get married in the Church we had chosen and then had a small afternoon tea reception in my aunt’s lovely garden afterwards. Myself and my mom are quite creative so we managed to pull it all together – without the support of family I don’t think we would have been able to go ahead with the day!”

3. How did you find the planning during these times?

“It was quite difficult to plan as we had no idea what was around the corner – another lockdown could come into place the night before, or things could ease in a few months and then we would have wished we had waited. However, we just had to take each day as it came and plan it in the hopes that it would be able to go ahead. It was difficult knowing what to spend money on as we still had to save money for the big celebrations that we have put on hold.”

4. What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

“It was nice having around 16 of our closest friends and family there and being able to see everyone together in one space during these times. It was also lovely seeing everything come together nicely after a very quick turnaround time!”

5. Do you have any advice for brides considering an intimate wedding?

“Get creative and ask for help! It’s amazing what you can pull off when everyone works together and gets stuck in. My mom put my bouquet together from flowers from my aunt’s garden, we bought 2 cakes and put them on tiered stands to make it look more ‘wedding like’ and my mom and aunt also made confetti cones from scratch. Luckily, I was still able to get my hair done, but had to do my makeup myself – I’m better at doing my own makeup than hair, so that worked out well!”

6. Is there anything else you would like to add about your experience, photography or wedding related?

“Our intimate wedding day will always be an amazing memory, and I’m so glad that we were able to have Natalie there to capture the day. We have lovely shots of everyone together but also close-ups on the things we put together ourselves, which is so lovely to be able to look back on.”
